Playground Nugget Rubber Mulch

Certified playground rubber mulch is designed for impact attenuation beneath playground equipment. It can also be used as long-lasting landscape ground cover.

For playground use, always confirm the product’s certifications and select the compacted depth required for the equipment’s maximum fall height.

Shredded Landscape Rubber Mulch

Shredded rubber mulch is designed for landscaping, planting beds, pathways, commercial properties, and other decorative ground-cover applications.

Do not use landscape-only shredded mulch beneath playground equipment unless that specific product is certified for playground safety surfacing.

Determine the Application

Rubber mulch can be used for:

Select the Correct Depth

Landscape applications typically use approximately 1.5–2 inches of rubber mulch.

Certified playground nugget mulch requires a compacted depth based on the equipment’s maximum fall height:

  • 4 inches compacted: protection up to 10 feet
  • 5 inches compacted: protection up to 12 feet
  • 6 inches compacted: protection up to 16 feet

Always follow the current product certification and installation requirements.

Calculate the Required Quantity

Measure the complete project area in square feet and select the appropriate installed depth.

Choose a Color

Color affects the appearance of the finished project but does not replace the need to select the correct product type.

Plan the Complete Project

Depending on the application, the complete project may also require:

  • Playground borders or landscape edging
  • Wear mats beneath swings, slides, or other high-traffic areas
  • Landscape fabric
  • Site preparation and grading
  • Freight and receiving arrangements
  • Installation labor and equipment

Plan for Freight Delivery

Bulk rubber mulch typically ships in palletized bags by freight. Liftgate service is available for eligible orders and locations.

Large full-truckload orders may qualify for alternative delivery arrangements, including flatbed or loading-dock delivery.
