Tetherball Planning & Installation
A commercial tetherball installation requires a durable pole, appropriate mounting method, adequate play area, proper footing, and safe placement away from surrounding obstacles.
Select the Installation Method
Permanent-mount poles are installed directly into a concrete footing. Sleeve-mounted systems allow the pole to be removed for storage, maintenance, or flexible use of the recreation area. Confirm which components are included with the selected configuration.
Choose the Location
Place tetherball equipment on a level area with adequate clearance from playground equipment, fencing, buildings, walkways, vehicles, landscaping, and other recreation activities. Consider player movement around the full circumference of the pole.
Prepare the Footing
Follow the current manufacturer instructions for hole diameter, footing depth, concrete quantity, finished pole height, vertical alignment, drainage, and curing time. Sleeve installations must remain properly aligned and protected from debris.
Inspect Before Use
Confirm that the pole is straight and secure. Inspect the ball, rope, attachment point, sleeve, cap, footing, and surrounding play area before opening the equipment for use.
Ongoing Maintenance
Replace worn balls or ropes promptly. Check the pole, attachment point, footing, sleeve, cap, and surrounding surface regularly.
